Iran and Armenia agreed to boost mutual cooperation in energy, transit, trade and inter-banking fields.
"We agreed with Armenian president on Iran’s use of special conditions regarding trade ties with Eurasia members to pave the way for free trade among Eurasia countries,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a press conference with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan in Armenia.
He also stressed that Iran and Armenia are of considerable potential, some of which should be activated at the moment and some in coming months and years.
Rouhani further said that the two countries also agreed to expand cooperation in Turkmenistan’s gas swap to Armenia and raising power exchanges between Tehran and Yerevan and regional countries.
He noted that Iran and Armenia can accomplish transit path from Persian Gulf to Black Sea. "We can connect Black Sea to Persian Gulf through road and railroad to provide people of this region and other parts of the world with trade and economic facilities.”
Iranian president further continued that the two sides had also discussed regional security. "Armenia and Azerbaijan are two friends and neighbors of us and we hope that we witness sustainable peace in Nagorno-Karabakh through talks and political ways.”
"No doubt that there is no military solution to peace and we should witness stability and security in the region through talks under international law,” he continued.
