Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated that a new chapter has been turned in Tehran-Bishkek bilateral ties.

"Independent policy of Kyrgyz state in the global scene is of great importance for us. We greatly respect the independent policy and the culture of modernization and anti-extremism in this country,” Rouhani said in a press conference with his Kyrgyz counterpart in Bishkek.

He also said that visa-waiving between Iran and Kyrgyzstan is a principal policy in bilateral ties between the two countries.

"We hope that visa-waiving will be conducted in three phases. First for businessmen, industrial units and entrepreneurs, second for tourists and third full visa-waiving,” Rouhani said.

Rouhani reiterated that Iran and Kyrgyzstan are resolute in boosting banking ties as well.
He said that Iran welcomes railroad connection from China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran to Oman Sea, Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.

"We believe that the project will be in favor of Iran and Kyrgyzstan and the entire region. This issue is influential in both economic and cultural aspects in the entire region.”

Iranian president noted that Iran is willing to expand bilateral ties with Kyrgyzstan in agriculture, providing foodstuff and exchanging technical and engineering services.

Kyrgyz President, Almazbek Atambayev, for his part, said the two sides have discussed preparing a 10-year cooperation program, and that implementing the plan would increase bilateral exchanges into a new level.

He also said that Iran and Kyrgyzstan agree on fighting extremism and terrorism. "The two sides condemn terrorism in all forms and believe that no one has the right to attribute extremism and terrorism to any nation or religion and create Islamophobia.”

He further said that his country is ready to work with Iran in security and exchanging intelligence information at regional and international levels.
