TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – Police officials inside the complex said they believed it was a militant attack on the ministry.
Wednesday’s incident comes after a series of deadly attacks in Kabul this year, which have killed and wounded hundreds of people.
The Afghan capital has seen an increase in bombings and other attacks against the security forces and civilians since the Taliban announced the beginning of their spring offensive on April 25.
US-led forces invaded Afghanistan and toppled a ruling Taliban regime some 17 years ago. That ongoing war has failed to bring stability to the country despite the presence of thousands of foreign forces. A recent survey found that Taliban were active in two-thirds of the country and were fully controlling four percent of it.
Today, US President Donald Trump officially appointed Lieutenant General Austin Scott Miller as commander of the US-led occupying forces in Afghanistan.
