TEHRAN, October 9 - Iranian researchers at Amir-Kabir Poly Technique University have developed a drug delivery system merely for destroying cancerous cells, hoping that the system could be commercialized soon.

Iranian researcher develops anti-cancer drug system, reducing chemo side effectsTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Fatemeh Baghbani, the lead author of the study, said the system is sensitive to ultrasound waves and has been designed for treating cancer in a purposeful way.

The Iranian researcher said that the system is product of a nano-emulation, adding the drug loaded in the system explode by ultrasound waves.

The system is injected to the body and is collected in the cancerous tissue, she said, adding then the waves are imposed to the cancerous tissue and the drug is exploded in large volumes in that specific tissue.

She said that the method increases the deterrence power of tumor growth at the time of chemotherapy.

The scientist added that the drug does not enter into the healthy tissue and does not causes chemotherapy side effects.

A general drug is loaded on the system which can be used for treating all types of cancer.
