France stresses normalizing banking ties with Iran

French Minister of Economy and Finance, Michel Sapin emphasized normalization of banking relations between Iran and France.
France stresses normalizing banking ties with Iran"We cannot develop bilateral economic ties between Iran and France as long as bilateral banking relations between the two countries are not normalized,” he said in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Tayyeb-Nia here in Tehran.

He continued that bilateral ties between Iran and France have grown considerably over last few months and certain projects have been implemented; however, financial transactions need to be normalized as well.

This cannot came true overnight, but "It is our goal and demand”, Sapin added.

The French minister stressed building confidence between the two countries to let companies establish financial channels which are secure and efficient.

Companies from France and other European countries have returned to Iran after easing international sanctions on the country last January.
 
Iinternational banks have not resumed banking ties with Iran due to fear from US punishments. The country has yet to lift unilateral economic embargo on Iran.
