France announced its readiness to renew Iran’s railroad fleet.
There is a promising landscape for Iran-France bilateral railroad cooperation, said French Minister of Economy and Finance, Michel Sapin in a meeting with Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi here in Tehran.
He said France is ready to participate in renewing Iranian railroad fleet.
"French government is after deepening bilateral ties with Iran and it will make efforts to remove financial impediments to projects,” he added.
He further added that France wants mutual cooperation with Iran in other transportation fields.
"Our presence in Iran will not be confined to closing short-term agreements, France is thinking about durable and long-term cooperation with Iran.”
Akhoundi, for his part, said, Iran is after removing obstacles and establishing long-term relation with France in all fields and not only buying and selling certain types of goods.
He also said Iranian representatives would visit France next week for talks with Airbus officials.
The Iranian minister continued that Iran and France can discuss cooperation in road, railroad and marine transportation. "We expect France to give a clear response to Iran on leasing and ways of financing for renewing railroad.”
