Iran’s mineral reserves would be increased by 50 percent in the next Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21, 2017) with new exploratory projects stretching 250.000 square kilometers, said Managing Director of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mehdi Karbasian.
The explorations which have started since 2015 cover 250.000 kilometers in 25 Iranian provinces and have added extra reserves to Iran’s mineral potential, he said.
According to Karbasian, the identification and exploration phases of these reserves have been accomplished.
The resources include 400 million tons iron ore, 300 million tons coal and 50 million tons gold.
