TEHRAN, YJC. Shariatmadari, a minister from the reformist terms, has spoken about the upcoming presidential elections. He believes that up coming election will not be as fervid as last one.
Shariatmadari inan interview with a local news agency said in "This year elections are not as fervid as before. I hope that after the New Year holidays and as the ice melts out of nature and as the pleasing spring warmth comes, verve will also come to the political scene.”

Regarding the cold atmosphere he added "It partly comes from the electoral atmosphere the previous time where things happened. Also the serious participation by political groups with the challenges between them that blew the elections’ furnace during the previous electoral campaign does not exist now.”

Reformist candidate further said "As for individuals from the reformist front who would run many names exist in the political atmosphere of Iran. But naturally the candidate with high votes who could stir a high level of participation according to their view is Khatami.”

"This is naivety to think that the Guardian’s Council wants today to know Khatami. If he speaks a couple of words that are welcome by the system it will be very good but if not it would be so bad. So the analogy is a weak one. Mr. Khatami’s political activity is well known and it is not the criterion for his current situation.”

He also said "If the charismatic faces of the system, such as Hashemi, Nategh Noori, Khatami, and Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, whom I know of this group will enter the scene they will have a bigger umbrella for launching a powerful administration, so I would back down in their favor, if not, I will run for the elections.
