Monday, 19 October 2020 (YJC) _ A judiciary official reported Iran's intelligence forces have successfully seized a consignment of illicit drugs in Shiraz.
On his Monday’s remarks, a judiciary official of Fars Province, Hojat al-Islam Seyyed Kazem Mousavi announced that intelligence forces have confiscated 625 kg of illegal drugs at the entrance of Shiraz.
According to him the consignment consisted of 496 kg of hashish and 129 kg of opium.
He also noted that two smugglers have been arrested in this operation and handed to the judiciary officials and one truck carrying drugs was also seized.
Despite high economic and human costs, the Islamic Republic has been actively fighting drug-trafficking over the past decades. The country has spent more than $700 million on sealing its borders and preventing the transit of narcotics destined for European, Arab, and Central Asian countries.
