Tehran, YJC. Salehi says Iran is seeking approval to use exploding-bridgewire detonators.
Following a meeting with the IAEA Director General in Tehran
on Sunday, the Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization expressed optimistic
views over how Iran and the agency work things together.
Aliakbar Salehi who was speaking in a joint press conference
with Yukyia Amano said "During Amano’s first trip to Iran an agreement was
signed based on which over 13 demands posed by the agency were satisfied in two
parts. These demands were then reflected positively in the IAEA report.”
"In the 3rd step where the agency has 5 more
demands we are going to answer these within the Joint Plan of Action with the P5+1,
regarding which some measures have been taken,” he added.
Salehi then stated "During the talk we held with Mr. Amano
today we focused mainly on the exploding-bridgewire detonators or EBWs, which has
a long story and I have to say that luckily our friends have adequately answered
the entire questions posed.”
Iran’s chief nuclear official added "We hope that this time
Mr. Amano takes a giant step regarding EBWs with the notion that the issue is
about to be wrapped up. We expect, and this was told him, that once this step
is taken, future ones will be taken more easily.”
