TEHRAN, Jul 29 - Critics of US President Donald Trump launched the #unfollowTrump movement on Twitter Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said he would unfollow Trump’s “hate-filled, racist, and demeaning” feed.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The hashtag #unfollowTrump began circulating on social media on Monday morning after Murphy appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to explain his decision to unfollow Trump’s @realDonaldTrump account.
“Yesterday morning, I just decided I had had enough of starting my days with this kind of racist, hateful, demeaning negativity,” Murphy explained. “Obviously I’m in this business and I’m in the United States Senate to try and stop his hateful agenda from moving into law.”
I’m unfollowing the President of the United States today on Twitter, because his feed is the most hate-filled, racist, and demeaning of the 200+ I follow, and it regularly ruins my day to read it. So I’m just going to stop.
I can’t believe I just typed that.

The senator from Connecticut said that he gets “trapped” in a vicious cycle of immediately responding to Trump’s tweets.
After this, social media users started following Murphy’s lead, using the hashtag #unfollowTrump to announce that they would stop subscribing to Trump’s feed. Trump has a massive 62.4 million following on Twitter.
You know, if everyone who actually disagrees with him UNFOLLOWS him, his numbers might really drop. #UnfollowTrump https://t.co/IprrZs3h8i
