TEHRAN, Mar 05 - US law enforcement officers have arrested at least 84 demonstrators taking part in a protest rally staged over police accountability in the killing of unarmed black man Stephon Clark.

Dozens arrested in protest rally over Sacramento killingTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -Sacramento police Capt. Norm Leong tweeted on Monday evening that officers wrapped up the protest with "80 plus arrests. Still processing it all."

The 22-year-old Clark was shot dead in his grandmother's back yard by two Sacramento police officers in March.

Protesters holding photos of Clark and Black Lives Matter signs staged the rally to show their disapproval of the Sacramento's District Attorney's decision to not file charges against the police officers who killed Clark.

Sacramento's District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert voted not to charge the police officers who shot and killed Stephon Clark last year.

According to legal reports the two Sacramento officers who killed Clark on March 18 were responding to a report that a man had broken car windows and was hiding in the backyard. They chased that man -- later identified as Clark -- who was unarmed, and shot him dead.

An autopsy released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office claimed that Clark was shot seven times, including three times in the back. According to an independent autopsy, Clark was shot eight times, with six of those shots hitting his back side.

Police said they shot at Clark because they believed he was pointing a gun at them, but only a cellphone was found at the shooting.

The incident sparked days of protests from activists who called for police accountability, part of the broader movement known as Black Lives Matter.
