TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -The United States will increase investments in Israeli infrastructure projects, says Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, praising investment opportunities there.
“We have a very important relationship with Israel. This is really a great place for investments, particularly technology investments,” Mnuchin told reporters in Jerusalem al-Quds.
“We are going to make sure we do more infrastructure investments here,” added Mnuchin alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
However, he did not provide further elaborations on the projects Washington would invest in.
The United States has always been under criticism for its relations with and support of Israel despite the regime’s atrocities against Palestinians and its blatant human rights violations in Gaza and elsewhere.
The US has particularly supported Israel militarily and its military aid to Tel Aviv has skyrocketed over the past several years.
A report in August showed that US senators were quietly paving the way for a military aid to Israel that would exceed $3.8 billion.
The figure would amount to $23,000 per year for every family in Israel, according to a report by Minnesota-based news website MintPress News, released amid a media blackout.
The amount was a result of a memorandum of understanding on security assistance between Washington and Tel Aviv.
The funding involves an additional $550 million aid for Israeli missile systems and $1 billion for US weapons stockpiles in Israel.
Hailed as a “great friend to the Jewish people” by Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump has further boosted ties with Israel since he took office in January 2017.
