Tehran, YJC. Jannati says not only does he not regard Facebook as meeting censorship requirements, but he personally uses the social website.

Speaking in a meeting, Culture Minister Ali Jannati provided comments on attempts to unblock Facebook and said "So far we have had no session to discuss the criminality of Facebook.”

He added "I am in contact with inside and outside of the country on Facebook. These days we talk about the Ashoura occasion [a religious observation] and I believe that Facebook does not add up to an example of criminal instances.”

Jannati also pointed to the closure of Hammihan daily and said "No special measure has yet been taken about its closure and it is not clear why it was shut down.”
