TEHRAN, May 18 - A 4.4-magnitude quake shook parts of South Khorassan province in northwest Iran early Friday.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University the quake occurred at 00:16:46 hours local time Friday (19:46:46 GMT Thursday).
The quake took place at the depth of 10 kilometers underground with its epicenter being located 66 kilometers from Khusf, 81 kilometers from Birjand and 81 kilometers from Mood in South Khorassan province.
No report is available on possible casualties or material losses so far.
Iran sits on major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
