TEHRAN, January 17 - Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran said on Tuesday that based on the 20-Year National Vision Plan (2005-25), the number of foreign tourists visiting Iran should increase to 20 million from the current five million.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Ali Asghar Mounesan who is currently in Madrid to attend the 38th International Tourism Fair dubbed “Fitur” told the Islamic Republic News Agency , “During meetings with foreign tourism officials and tour operators, we will seek to promote cooperation and raise the number of foreign tourists to the country.”
To this end, publicity, information dissemination and introducing tourism attractions of the country should be accelerated, he said, noting that attracting tourists from European states, China, Turkey and neighboring states are among the objectives of Iran on the basis of its plan for attracting tourists.
Describing Fitur as one of the main exhibitions in the field of tourism in the world, he said that’s for the same reason Iran takes part in it every year.
Some 10,000 companies from over 165 countries are participating in the event, he said.
The ongoing exhibition will end on November 21.
