TEHRAN, January 9 - A funeral has been held for a student who was killed by government forces during protests calling for the release of prominent cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - A funeral has been held for a student who was killed by government forces during protests calling for the release of prominent cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
Nigerian sources told Press TV on Monday that at least two young students were killed by the security forces during the ongoing protests in Kaduna which broke out on Sunday.
The protests turned violent after security forces used teargas to disperse the peaceful demonstrators, who had taken to the streets following reports of the deterioration of Sheikh Zakzaky's health condition.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Human Rights Commission has also called on Nigerian authorities to immediately release Shiekh Zakzaky over his deteriorating health condition.
On Sunday, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) called on Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to release Zakzaky so he could seek medical attention for a stroke that he had recently suffered.
Zakzaky lost his left eye sight in a raid, which was carried out by the Nigerian army on his residence in the northern town of Zaria back in December 2015.
