Tehran, YJC. Shariatmadari has said that despite common belief, Rouhani does not owe his presidency to Reformists.
Managing
Director of Keyhan Hossein Shariatmadari has written in his column "Attempts
are being made to show that the publically elected Hassan Ruhani owes his
presidency to the Reform support.”
"It
must be mentioned that not only is Ruhani not obliged to Reformists, but it is
Reformists for whom the rise of Rouhani to power provides an occasion to come
to the political stage,” he adds.
Shariatmadari
also states "The anomalous economic conditions of the country and especially
unbridled inflation and spasmodic increase in prices, accompanied by extensive
slander directed at the incumbent administration regardless of its outstanding
and sometimes unique services on one hand and the administration keeping itself
busy with side issues and its unpardonable disregard for people’s livelihood
problems on the other had a great role in conveying the votes to Mr. Rouhani. Therefore,
Dr. Rouhani must be obliged to the deviant circle infiltrating the government
rather than to thank the Executives and Reform claimants.”
