TEHRAN, September 9 - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his Tajik Emomali Rahmon congratulated Tajikistan’s National Day.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In his message, Rouhani stressed that old and strong cultural and civil connections between the two countries are unending backing on which bilateral ties between the two countries have been established.
He expressed hope that mutual relations between the two countries would be expanded further in line with meeting mutual interests and strengthening regional security and stability.
Tajikistan declared independence from the Soviet Union on September 9, 1991, following breakup of the Soviet empire.
In a relevant development in late April 2016, Tajik Parliament Speaker Shakour Jan Zohorov in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation.
"No country can impede broadening of relations between Dushanbe and Tehran," Zohorov said during the meeting in Moscow.
The Tajik parliament speaker said that the two countries have implemented many projects in different industrial and economic areas.
"I am pleased with lifting the Western sanctions on Iran," Zohorov said, adding, "Tajikistan is ready for cooperation with Iranian investors."
The Iranian parliament speaker, for his part, said that Iran wants firmly to develop cooperation with Tajikistan comprehensively.
Larijani said that it is now time for the development of ties and the two countries witness promotion of cooperation in different areas.
