Tehran, YJC. Ayatollah Jafari has said that the Commander of IRGC Quds Corps will vote for Qalibaf.

Ayatollah Seyyed Yahya Jafari, Supreme Leader’s Delegate to and Friday Preacher of Kerman, said in a meeting with Mohamm Baqer Qalibaf on Saturday "Whoever takes on this great responsibility must considered a number of things, the most important of which is not to give false promises.”

Addressing Qalibaf, he added "Your cabinet must form accordingly. It is wrong to think on a single track. There are capable people among the Principalist as well as the Reformist. It would be wrong to insist on the presence only of Principalists in the cabinet. There are competent people in all groups.”

The Ayatollah said "One night when I was with Reza Seifollahi [former Chief of Police] and Haj Qasem Soleimani is asked him who are you going to vote for? Haj Qasem said ‘Qalibaf’. I will vote for Qalibaf, too.”

Qalibaf also said in turn "I had the chance to know you during the war,” adding "both at the time of war and after there were many times with Major General Soleimani when we would mention your name. We love you with all our hearts.”

These quotations from Qasemi come at a time when previously at the time of candidate sign-ups text messages quoted him as saying that the former Reformist President Mohammad Khatami’s presence on the electoral scene will boost Iran’s regional influence.

Soleimani, a commander during the Iran-Iraq war and currently Commander of the Quds Forces has had no statement so far in this regard. But recently the First Deputy Speaker of the Majlis Mohammadreza Bahonar had said that some high-ranking IRGC officials are inclined towards Qalibaf.
