Tehran, YJC. Zibakalam says that neither Hashemi nor Khatami are going to endorse a candidate.

Sadeq Zibakalam said in interview with Mehr "I do not think that either Mr. Hashemi or Khatami will endorse either of the Reformist candidates,” believing that their chances of victory are close to zero.

"They do not, thought, call on people not to vote,” he added.

Zibakalam asserted that Hashemi and Khatami will themselves vote, but will not support anyone.

He also denied the chances that either Rohani or Aref would step down in favor of the other.

Zibakalam then stated "After Mr. Hashemi’s disqualification, the chances of these two gentlemen to win would be next to nothing, should they run together or should one step down for the other.”

He added "Even in case Hashemi, Khatami, or Reform leaders ask their fans to vote for a candidate, a considerable portion of them will not heed their word.”

"There is a small chance, though,” he further said "that either of the two [Rohani or Aref], or both together will resign from candidacy in respect for the Reformist and Mr. Hashemi and to express contempt in his disqualification.”
