TEHRAN, August 12, YJC - British Ambassador to Iran Nicholas Hopton said Iran’s nuclear deal is an important factor for developing ties with Iran.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “Britain does not forget its historical ties with Iran. Despite many ups and downs in relations between the two countries, we are willing to develop our ties with Iran, and especially with Tabriz, (a city in northeastern Iran),” he said after a meeting with East Azerbaijan Governor Esmail Jabar-Zadeh.
He also said the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is ‘an appropriate opportunity’, for developing relations between Iran and Britain. “British government has announced its commitments to support the nuclear deal and we regard it as a good ground for boosting bilateral interactions.”
The British envoy also said that visa issuance and banking interactions are the most impediments to expanding bilateral ties, expressing hope that the problems would be removed soon.
Hapton noted that a special economic delegation from Britain is going to visit Tabriz soon.
Tabriz is capital city of East Azerbaijan Province.
