TEHRAN, Aug 1, YJC - Iran’s Foreign Minister says US worries about Iran’s strengthening through JCPOA.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC)- Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif, elaborating on the 16 articles of supervising JCPOA implementation, said that the policies US follows indicates two points; US disloyalty and its animosity toward Iran.
Stressing that the US worries about Islamic Republics strengthening, Zarif asserted “the US strongly worries that Islamic Republic gets stronger through JCPOA, and the deal already has limited their capability of maneuvering”.
About taking legal measures against the US sabotage in the nuclear deal also the Minister said that in the JCPOA supervisory committee, different decisions were taken including taking legal measures and following them up through international communities as well as the Joint Commission of JCPOA.
Foreign Ministry also, he went on, has added the recent sanctions of the US Congress to the list of the sanctions, and a series of similar policies also should be taken by the Iran Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) in order to frustrate the enemies’ efforts to deprive Iran from the benefit of the deal.
Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia - plus Germany signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (also known as JCPOA) on July 14, 2015 and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.
Under the agreement, limits were put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related bans against the Islamic Republic.
The UN Security Council later unanimously endorsed a resolution that effectively turned the JCPOA into international law.
