Tehran, YJC. Motahari says that despite efforts from the opposite side to limit Hashemi to the reform side, the former President enjoys much moderate Principalist support.
Ali
Motahari pointed to the huge amount of slander directed at Hashemi and said
that it shows how much the opposite side is afraid of him.
He added
"It is a tactic by those who intend to disparage Mr. Hashemi to limit him to
the Reform current. But this is not in accordance with reality, because both
moderate Principalists and moderate Reformists support Mr. Hashemi. So, the
upcoming elections will be a rivalry between moderation and extremism. The moderate
current related to Mr. Hashemi has disagreements with radicals from both Principalist
and Reformist wings.”
He added
"Right now the Principalist staff to support Hashemi is being formed, of which
many Principalists are members.”
Motahari
believed that the same way slanders could not drive Hashemi out of the ring,
this time also they will not be rewarding and will only increase his
popularity.
