Tehran, YJC. A member of the Principalist group of the Majlis believes that although a charismatic figure, Hashemi has met public favor rather for a bad record by previous administrations.
Abdolvahid
Fayyazi said "Hashemi is reaping what he sowed before, but he is not the one to
carry us through this difficult pass. The image kept of Hashemi is a charismatic
figure of the war and post-war eras when he could accomplish much. This image,
though, is due to the malfunctions of the previous administrations.”
He
added that meanwhile the presence of Hashemi will not favor Qalibaf, taking
away much of the latter’s vote.
He also
believed that the present Hashemi is much different from that of the 80s and
90s, having undergone transmutations into different modes of thought.
Fayyazi believed that from his experience of
the Hashemi administration in the 90s, he deems it far from possible that the
former President would be able to carry the country through its present dilemma.
He then
pointed to Hashemi’s recent speeches in foreign policy, believing them to raise
some concern.
Hashemi
had lately said that Iran has no intention of enmity toward Israel and plans to
improve its foreign relations.
