Tehran, YJC. The presidential candidate Mottaki has said that relations with the US are possible, for which the prerequisite is the will of the two nations.
Speaking
in a question-and-answer session with students of University of Chamran, Ahvaz,
Manouchehr Mottaki said that Iran and the US are two key elements in global
equations, and that although the two countries adopt different stances, America
is a country with public legitimacy with which relations could be established.
He then
pointed to two letters by Obama to the Supreme Leader and said "Obama’s motto
in these years has been to make changes. Although we have not seen changes in
his first term, if we discern changes in practice we will hold talks with them.”
He then
pointed to the nuclear issue as the ground for sanctions and said that in both
Khatami and Ahmadinejad administrations the system has kept to preserving the
nation’s right to nuclear energy, however via different policies.
Mottaki
deemed the nuclear energy issue of top priority in international relations and
believed that sanctions would be resolved with sound management under favorable
circumstances.
