Rezaei proposes regional security council

Tehran, YJC. Expediency Council Secretary has proposed to launch a regional security council.

Speaking in a meeting with regional ambassadors to Tehran on South-west Asia cooperation, Rezaei said "We can establish a regional security council to work toward a constructive cooperation and prevent foreign military forces to appear in the region.”

The Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran added "It is to regret that a kind of void prevails in the region which has caused much insecurity. We are to witness many excruciating incidents in the region, circumstances in Pakistan, Syria, Bahrain, Palestine, and Iraq.”

Rezaei also believed the UN to suffer a kind of passiveness in maintaining security over the region and stated "With a union in the region we could establish good relations with other countries of the world and move toward a fair accommodation of regional opportunities. We can form a geopolitical zone with which outside countries can have cooperating markets in sections such as energy.”

He also added that a conference will be held for strengthening relations in the region and stated that since security, peace, and development are three inter-related issues, important steps will be taken likewise in the future.
