TEHRAN, May 24, YJC - Military exercise of the Iranian Army, dubbed as ‘Beit-ol-Moqadas 29’, kicked off in central Iran on Tuesday morning.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The drill is being held on the occasion of the 35th liberation anniversary of southern city of Khorramshahr during Iran-Iraq imposed war on May 24, 1982.

The military exercise ‘Beit-ol-Moqadas 29’ has brought together various units of the Army of Iran in Nasrabad, a town in the province of Isfahan.

Various army units such as infantry, artillery, quick response, battalion 65 of special forces, drones and helicopters are involved in the drill demonstrating their capabilities.

Two groups, the friendly forces and the fictitious enemy, are trained in positioning operations in the region, in surface defense as well as in planning and implementation of operations against helicopter attacks by the enemy.

The two-day exercise also comprises day and night and anti-terrorist operations.

Situated in southwestern Iran, the city of Khorramshahr was occupied at the beginning of the Iraq-imposed war on Iran and released in 1982 during Operation Beit-ol-Moqaddas, a counter-offensive which pushed the Iraqi army out of Iranian territory.

Iran has made considerable headway in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in developing important military equipment and systems over the past years.
