Canada says aware of importance of holding Iranian presidential elections for expatriates
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - "Canadian government is aware of importance of holding presidential elections for Iranian expatriates. However, certain technical issues need to be investigated regarding holding elections for other citizens given current circumstances, lack of political ties (between Iran and Canada) as well as lack of activities of diplomatic buildings of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Canada and Canadian internal rules,” she said in a phone call with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad-Javad Zarif.

Zarif, for his part, said, "Iranian expatriates are enthusiastic to participate in making decision about the future of their country through taking part in the presidential election.”

A political delegation of Canadian Foreign Ministry has been staying in Iran for talks with officials of Iranian Foreign Ministry on bilateral ties.

Iranians are scheduled to vote for the 12th presidential election on May 19.
