Tehran, YJC. Lankarani says that Hashemi better keep to his current position and put presidency out of mind.

Lankarani believed that Hashemi’s presence in the electoral competition will on one hand contribute to a more vivid electoral atmosphere "because today many of the candidates, either from the Principalist current or the Reformist, are in little disagreement with Hashemi.”

On the other hand, he stated "Hashemi is 79. He himself must judge if he is fit for running the affairs of 70 million who are mostly young.”

"Hashemi better appreciate the position he owes to the Supreme Leader and continue to do in that position, because if he runs for presidency he will meet defeat heavier than his 2005,” Lankarani added.

He also answered a question regarding the organization of elections by the IRGC as mentioned by some political movements as "The IRGC is one of the most important popular organizations and it has appeared effective in various occasions. As Imam Khomeini said the IRGC will not interfere with political matters. This is a pledge with the IRGC.”

Regarding talks with the US, he asserted that it would be naiveté to suppose that all problems will be solved once negotiations with the US are held.

The 9th-term Minister said that talks with the US will lead to no paradise but only cripple the country.
