TEHRAN, April 19, YJC - Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, arrived in Bishkek on Tuesday night as his final leg of regional trips started from Turkmenistan and Georgia.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC)- Heading a mainly business delegation, Zarif is going to meet President of
Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev and Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev in his
one-day stay in Bishkek.
The top Iranian diplomat will also attend a conference on Iran-Kyrgyzstan
economic cooperation.
In December 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani paid an official visit to
Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of his Kyrgyz counterpart Atambayev.
During the trip, the two countries signed five cooperation documents to
develop the relations in various fields.
Iranian officials maintain that Central Asia plays a significant role in
Tehran’s foreign policy agenda, expressing readiness for investment in the post-Soviet
states by the Iranian companies.
After a trip to Turkmenistan, and arrived in Tbilisi on
Monday, Zarif visited Georgia’s Economy and Sustained Development Minister on
Tuesday to hold talks about the increase of cooperation between Iran and
Georgia.
