Pakistan officially was conferred the presidency of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Being the periodical head of Economic Cooperation Organization since the 12th round of ECO summit in 2013, Azerbaijan Republic conferred the presidency of ECO to Pakistan today in Islamabad.
the 13th round of ECO summit was held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad today (Wednesday). Warmly welcoming the the heads of the ECO member countries, Mohammad Navazsharif stressed that Pakistan will do its best to make the ECO objectives and plans realized in order for strengthening regional economic cooperation.
Yesterday and in the 22nd round of the meeting of ECO’s FMs, Mohammad Java Zarif, Iran’s Foreign Minister, conferred the presidency of the ECO foreign ministers to his Pakistani Counterpart, Sartaj Aziz.
The Economic Cooperation Organization acronymed as ECO was founded by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey back in 1985. It also groups Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
