Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is going to visit Iran over next 10 days.
Vaezi said that Iran and Azerbaijan are going to make investment in the two countries for the first time.
He added that the two countries are resolute to expand bilateral ties in economic fields.
The Iranian minister continued that Tehran and Baku have decided to lessen the role of oil as a source of income and focus on non-oil economy which can come true through cooperation of private sector and businessmen.
Last May, Vaezi and Azeri Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev underlined the need for expediting the construction of the railway which links the two countries to each other.
They made the remarks while visiting Qazvin-Rasht railway.
"The construction of the railway linking Iran and Azerbaijan should gain momentum and become operational soon," Vaezi said.
He reiterated that Iran-Azerbaijan railway will help broaden trade relations among different countries, and said, "By connecting Iran and Azerbaijan railway networks, Baku could easily access Central Asian countries, Persian Gulf region and the Indian subcontinent."
Vaezi expressed the hope that the 'friendship railway' between Iran and Azerbaijan will become operational as soon as possible and facilitate regional relations.
