Iran, Finland eye boosting bilateral economic ties20 Finnish companies working in mineral studies and discovery, explorations and geology held good talks with Iranian companies, said Finnish Deputy Minister of Labor and Economy Petri Peltonen in Iran-Finland economic seminar held in Iranian Chamber of Commerce.

He said Finnish cooperation with Iran would be in public private and academic fields.

Peltonen added Finland is following up on organizing banking and financial ties between Iran and Finland through Iranian and Finnish central banks and the EU.

Iranian Deputy Chairman of Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Pedram Soltani said not facilitating banking ties is the main impediment to developing bilateral economic ties between the two countries.

He said Finland has sent 4 economic delegations to Iran over last year, in one of which Finnish president was present and this shows the country’s willingness to expand bilateral economic ties with Iran.

He said Finnish mining companies signed agreements and MoU with Iranian companies.

Soltani also stressed boosting the level of bilateral commercial exchanges to $1 billion over next 5 years.
