Tehran, YJC. Mayor of Tehran has said that the Zionist regime is a hindrance to the establishment of order and equality in the region.
Mohammed-Baqer Qalibaf in the Conference of United Cities
and Local Governments (UCLG) of West Asia and Middle East provided comments on the
geographical position of areas covered by the organization and said "The region
holds the heritance of human civilization. Divine religions emerged from the area
and it is the locus where urbanity sprang. These are ample resources for the
citizens.”
He added "Our region enjoys high potentials for its natural
and energy resources and it can be the propelling part for global economy.”
Qalibaf pointed to the strategic role of the region in
maintaining global security and said "This strategic position in the region
exposes us to various challenges. It can be said that the world’s past was formed
here and its future will also be formed in the area.”
He added that development patterns must be followed which
lead to equality and human esteem, saying "The pattern can emerge in two
levels, one local and another regional. Municipalities are the key players in
leading the way to growth, social integrity, and comprehensive participations.”
He considered
The Mayor of Tehran considered UCLG a great opportunity to
exchange ideas and tap into experience from different member cities.
He then stated "Local governments’ potentials and measures
create the possibility to establish equality and comprehensive order for all,
but such unwanted factors as the Zionist regime are a hindrance to constructive
order in the region.”
