Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi said the country is ready to participate in reconstructing Syria.
"Iran is completely ready for planning to rebuild destroyed cities of Syria,” said Akhoundi in a meeting with the visiting Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Adib Mayyaleh here in Tehran.
He further said that Iran with experience of eight-year imposed war, is ready for providing technical, engineering and transportation services to Syria.
"We recommend Syria to take steps to register the destructions in the UN and in the next step, Iran will participate in preparing an operational program for rebuilding Syria.”
Boosting the level of bilateral cooperation, planning for rebuilding Syria, Iran’s support for Syrian rebuilding projects, establishing joint trade and economic commission, holding permanent exhibitions and developing transport cooperation are on the agenda (of bilateral ties), Akhoundi said.
Mayyaleh, for his part, welcomed boosting commercial and urban cooperation between Iran and Syria, and said, extending free trade agreement between the two country is very satisfactory for Syria.
He highlighted Syrian transportation needs. "The war has destroyed the infrastructure entirely.
The Syrian official noted that his country needs Iran’s support for rebuilding the railroad and urban activities.
