Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi extended condolences over death of Bishop Hilarion Capucci who has spent his life defending Palestinians’ Resistance and fighting Zionist occupation.

"Spending 14 years in jails of Quds occupation regime and long-term exile of this great man show the brutal nature of Zionist regime in dealing with true leaders supporting Palestine,” he said.

Archbishop Hilarion Capucci, who as the head of the Greek Catholic Church in Jerusalem died on Sunday in Rome. He was 94.

The death was confirmed by the Vatican.
