Vice-president of Azerbaijani state-owned SOCAR Energy Company said that the country began to buy natural gas from Iran earlier this year to meet domestic needs.

Khoshbakht Usifzde added that Azerbaijan buys between two million to four million cubic meters of Iranian gas per day.
He said Iran has provided Azerbaijan with about 286.3 million cubic meters of gas since the beginning of the current year.
Last year, Azerbaijan consumed 11 billion cubic meters of gas.
