Tehran, YJC. The Foreign Ministry summoned Turkey’d diplomat in Tehran to ask for explanations over unfavorable remarks by Erdogan.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham speaking on
Monday said that the ministry has summoned Turkey’s charge d’affaires in Tehran
to convey the Islamic Republic’s irritation at recent remarks made by Turkish
President Recep Tayyep Erdogan over Iran’s regional policy.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Asian and Pacific
Affairs invited the charge d’affaires in the absence of the Turkish ambassador.
Last week Erdogan accused Iran of following expansionist
policies, stating that Tehran is trying to create a Shia domination in the
Middle East.
Afkham further stated that Iran’s strategic approach to the
region is healthy cooperation with regional countries to maintain peace and
stability.
