Rouhani urges governmental, non-governmental efforts to preserve environment

Tehran, YJC. The president says that plans have to be made to tap the governmental as well as non-governmental sections in order to preserve the environment.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who was speaking on Thursday on the occasion of the national day of tree-planting said that threats that currently address Iran's environment call for sophisticated plans to takcle the environmental problems.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony where he planted a sappling on the campus of Agrucultural Research, Education, and Promotion Organization.

The day of tree-planting and the environment protection week has a symbolic message for us that there is no way for us but to be friends with environment, he stated.

Pointing to recent environmental problems such as dust storms to western Iran as well as water resources reduction, he said that action needs to be taken to preserve wetlands, adjust water consumption habits, and use new technologies in preserving environment.
