Tehran, YJC. Ali Shamkhani has said that chances are there for a good deal on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program provided that the negotiating parties show honesty and seriousness.
Secretary of
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said Sunday in a meeting
with Italy's Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni "If the negotiating parties are
sincere and serious, a good agreement can be achieved which includes respect
for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear rights within the framework of the
NPT.”
Iran and the
Group 5+1 are holding intense negotiations to reach a final agreement to end
more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
The top Iranian official
also stressed the urge for lifting the entire sanctions imposed so far on Iran;
and for confidence-building measures in response to Tehran’s good will and
cooperation.
He also urged
tapping the existing potentials for expanding economic, cultural and political relations
between Iran and Italy.
The Italian FM,
for his part, expressed hope that the nuclear talks between Iran and the six
major powers will result in a comprehensive deal.
Gentiloni further
stated that Rome attaches special significance to its ties with Tehran and pursues
enhancing bilateral relations.
