Tehran, YJC. The Iranian Red Crescent Society is holding negotiations with foreign companies to buy 28 new helicopters for the country’s air ambulance fleet.
We are trying to buy and import to the country a number of new
helicopters, Amir Mohsen Ziaee, head of the society announced on Sunday on the
sidelines of an international conference on rescue and relief operations in
Tehran on Sunday.
Ziaee stated that talks to buy 6 new helicopters have
started, adding that Iranian Red Crescent Society also aims to buy another 22
helicopters to enlarge its air ambulance fleet.
Last month the Defense Ministry handed its first
domestically-made Bell-412 helicopter to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The helicopter is made by Iran Helicopter Support and
Renewal Company (IHSRC) and complies with all international and national
aviation standards.
This week a helicopter belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent
Society crashed into the mountain in the northern Tehran area of Darband while
performing rescue drills.
All three on board the aircraft died in the accident.
