Tehran, YJC. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said a nuclear agreement between Iran and P5+1 could transform ties between Iran and the EU, according to Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
Mogherini stated
an agreement "could open the way for a normal diplomatic relation.”
The EU official
said a deal could also allow a regional framework with Tehran to emerge which
could tackle the Middle East’s many crises.
"If out of a
series of crises in the Middle East [...] and the Iranian nuclear talks, we manage
to get the opportunity for shaping a different regional framework in the Middle
East, this would be a major game-changer for our security and the stability of
our region,” she asserted.
Asked if she
believed that Iran and the 5+1 group were approaching an agreement, Mogherini
said, "Yes, we are getting close.”
The nuclear talks
between Iran and the 5+1 group (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany)
are will be continued on Monday.
The sides are
planning to reach a political understanding by the end of March, and a
comprehensive agreement by July 1.
