Tehran, YJC. Official has announced plans by the Islamic Republic of Iran for the exchange of prisoners with four countries.
Seyyed Ali
Raeesolsadati, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Justice told reporters on Friday that
plans for the prisoner exchange with Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Somalia and Iraq have been devised by a task force on
convict swap, over which he presides.
The official
stated that as part of an agreement signed between Iran and Qatar, six Iranian
convicts were repatriated from Qatar on Wednesday.
Iran has
extradition treaties with a number of countries. In a recent case, Iran and
Japan in January finalized details of an extradition treaty after 5 years of
technical talks and exchange of diplomatic delegations.
An
extradition treaty allows two countries to exchange their respective convicted
citizens, so the inmates would complete their prison terms at home.
