Tehran, YJC. Velayati says Afghanistan does not need any foreign state to cope with its ongoing challenges.
i"Afghanistan’s domestic problems must be solved by the
country’s own people, internally and without interference of foreign countries”,
Head of Iran's Strategic Research Center and senior adviser to Leader of the
Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in Tehran on Sunday meeting the
visiting UN special representative to Afghanistan, Nicholas Haysom.
Noting that Iran and Afghanistan have much in common,
Velayati asserted that Iran has been accepting Afghan refugees for four
decades.
He noted that the entire countries that share borders with
Afghanistan are prepared to help settle problems in the war-hit country.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always tried to strengthen
the legal government in Afghanistan,” Velayati stated, warning that extremist organizations
are likely to become more active in Afghanistan despite efforts by the Kabul
government.
