TEHRAN - Kofi Annan, the former UN secretary general, has said a nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1 group (Russia, China, the U.S., Britain, France, and Germany) would benefit the entire world.
Annan made the remarks in the Munich Security Conference on Sunday.
Elaborating on the benefits of a nuclear agreement, the former UN chief expressed hope that an agreement would be reached.
Commenting on the crisis in Syria, he stated that the UN Security Council has failed to reach an agreement for an integrated strategy on Syria.
EU’s chief diplomat says ‘historic opportunity’ with Iran cannot be missed
At the same conference EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Sunday that there is a "historic opportunity” to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran that cannot be missed.
It is the time to show "political will” to reach an agreement according to which Iran would be able to enjoy peaceful nuclear energy.
