Tehran, YJC. Pourdastan denounced ISIL as a proxy that wreaks havoc on Iraq on behalf of the US.
"Today, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)
commits crimes in Iraq as a proxy for the US,” Brigadier General Ahmad Reza
Pourdastan, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force, said speaking at a
meeting with 2 military attaches of Pakistani in Tehran on Wednesday.
"We are now facing a common enemy,” he said, "who are being
supported by the global arrogance.”
He nonetheless expressed happiness that Iran enjoys a well-prepared,
dynamic and operational army that has enhanced its abilities in all areas.
Brigadier General Reza Ali Khan, one of the Pakistani
officials, in turn said Islamabad has taken remarkable measures to counter the
ISIL militancy.
The ISIL is a terrorist group that has taken swaths of Iraq and
Syria in the past few months.
Iran has repeatedly denounced what the US calls a coalition against
ISIL as fake and doomed to failure.
