Tehran, YJC. Iranian official said on Wednesday that the Iranian fishermen who were reportedly shot in Turkmenistan are alive and not shot at by security forces.

On November 6th, 2014, a group of the Iranian fishermen were mislead because of heavy storm and entered Turkmenistan’s territorial waters and were then arrested by the country’s coast guards.

They have been ‘handed over alive’ to Turkmenistan’s judiciary officials and are being held in that country, Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari said.

Commenting on the alleged reports on approaching of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists to the Iranian border areas, the official said, "A new group has recently announced it is to establish a new Islamic state to the extreme east of Iran.

He added "We have been informed of the issue and are now resolutely following up the case. However, it has not been confirmed yet by any official.”
