Tehran, YJC. Iranian official said on Wednesday that the Iranian fishermen who were reportedly shot in Turkmenistan are alive and not shot at by security forces.
On November 6th, 2014, a group of the Iranian fishermen were
mislead because of heavy storm and entered Turkmenistan’s territorial waters and
were then arrested by the country’s coast guards.
They have been ‘handed over alive’
to Turkmenistan’s judiciary officials and are being held in that
country, Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Hossein Zolfaqari said.
Commenting on the alleged reports on approaching of Islamic
State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists to the Iranian border areas, the
official said, "A new group has recently announced it is to establish a new Islamic
state to the extreme east of Iran.
He added "We have been informed of the issue and are now resolutely
following up the case. However, it has not been confirmed yet by any official.”
