Tehran, YJC. Iranian soccer official said that former Portugal and Real Madrid manager, Queiroz, will remain as Iranian national football team’s coach.
Making the remarks at a local gathering in northeastern
province of North Khorasan, Head of Iranian Football Federation Ali Kaffashian stated
that the contract of the coach has not ended yet.
The coach would steer the Iranian squad until the 2018 FIFA
World Cup which is going to be held in Russia and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, the Iranian
official noted.
Queiroz expressed frustration last month at the way the international
sanctions imposed on Iran are damaging his plans to make up the team’s future.
"We suffer a lot to prepare
friendly games and to move internationally to prepare the team and players,” he asserted.
The Iranian soccer players and their Portuguese coach did
their best in the 16th round of the Asian Football Confederation Cup in
Australia last month but they failed to reach the semi-final of the
competition.
Queiroz believed that the Iranian team deserved to make it
to the semi-final of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup and hailed them for their
performance in the tournament.
