Tehran, YJC. The Iranian president has praised diplomats involved in nuclear talks with the 5+1 group of world powers, saying the “hardworking” and “experienced” team have defended the rights of the country.
President Hassan Rouhani also criticized "unjustifiable”
opposition by some statesmen against his government’s nuclear diplomacy, saying
such remarks go counter to the national interests.
Attending the launch party of the Seventh Farabi
International Festival in Tehran on Saturday, the president said the Iranian
nuclear negotiating team is made up of experienced diplomats and have brought
honor to the nation.
"Today, we have highly
experienced representatives who are engaged with the major six on legal, political,
and specialized issues. This is a wellspring of pride for our nation,” Rouhani
said.
In a rare move putting his weight behind the nuclear team,
he said the critics that just discover deficiencies with the Iranian moderators
are for sure undermining the nation’s national interests for the sake of
political affiliations.
President Rouhani made the remarks in wake of mounting criticism
at Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for his January 14 walk with U.S.
Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva.
The most recent reports from Iranian nuclear negotiators
have come with great amounts of optimism, maintaining that a nuclear deal is
possible by March.
